An online survey is available for the Dripping Springs ISD community to weigh in on the future name of the district’s newest elementary school.

The gist

The survey is available online until Oct. 11 and asks community members for feedback on if the tradition of naming schools after nearby springs should continue, and if yes, which of the nearby springs should the school be named for.

These options include:
  • Bell Springs
  • Belterra Springs
  • Boiling Springs
  • Capt Springs
  • Cave Springs
  • Cherry Springs
  • Emerald Springs
  • Jack Springs
  • Kirby Springs
  • Lloyd Springs
  • Milk House Springs
  • Pfluger/Gay Springs
  • Rogers/Camp Ben McCullough Springs
  • Spillar Ranch Springs
  • West Cave Springs
  • Wildwood Springs
All current DSISD schools are named after existing natural springs in the area. Board policy states that district facilities may be named for local residential areas, geographic features or landmarks.

The survey’s results will be taken into consideration before the name is considered by the DSISD board of trustees Jan. 27.

Diving in deeper

The district’s newest elementary school will be the sixth in DSISD and is under construction off Mira Vista Drive in the Headwaters neighborhood. District officials celebrated a groundbreaking of the school June 18.

The campus will accommodate 850 students and aims to relieve overcrowding at Dripping Springs Elementary and Walnut Springs Elementary.

District officials are working on rezoning existing attendance boundaries to accommodate for the school’s opening for the 2025-26 school year. Attendance zoning is expected to be approved at the Dec. 16 board meeting.
