Hospitals in the Austin metropolitan area admitted 36 new coronavirus patients Aug. 3, just shy of the area's seven-day moving average of 37 daily admissions. This marks the fifth straight day of admissions number below the possible Stage 3 COVID-19 risk threshold of 40 average daily admissions. Austin Public Health still classifies the Austin-Travis County area's risk as Stage 4, however.

APH also confirmed 335 new coronavirus cases in Travis County Aug. 3, bringing the county's total over the course of the pandemic to 21,549. An estimated 19,266 of those cases have resulted in recovered, while 285 patients in the county have died.
