Austin Public Health reported a seven-day moving average of 47 new daily admissions of COVID-19 patients in the Austin metropolitan area July 27, the lowest rate since June 24. On July 27 individually, 34 coronavirus patients were admitted. In early July, daily admission rates had topped 75, threatening to put the Austin area at Stage 5 pandemic risk.
Daily new coronavirus case counts have also stabilized over approximately the past week at around 240 daily positive tests in Travis County. There were exactly 240 new cases confirmed by APH on July 27.
There are 390 coronavirus patients currently hospitalized in the Austin area, with 140 in intensive care units and 97 on ventilators. APH has confirmed 19,720 Travis County residents with COVID-19 over the course of the pandemic with an estimated 17,069 recoveries, and 252 patients have died.
