Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas selected its new CEO Thomas Kim on Jan. 8.

Kim has over 30 years of leadership experience in nonprofit, military and for-profit sectors in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. He most recently served as president and CEO of Community Action Organization in Erie County, New York.

Kim succeeds Carolyn Schwarz, who served as CEO for 10 years before transitioning to a position at RMHC Global in August.

Why it matters

RMHC CTX provides assistance for families with sick or injured children who are being treated in local hospitals. The 30-bedroom house is open daily and offers free meals, laundry, a fitness center and other services.
