Austin-Bergstrom International Airport officials announced three new additions to the Barbara Jordan Terminal on Jan. 29.

Half Moon Empanadas

The Miami-based eatery is now offering empanadas on the nonsecure side of the airport across from Transportation Security Administration Checkpoint 2 West, near American Airlines. Half Moon held a soft launch opening in fall 2024 and celebrated its grand opening Jan. 29.

“This expansion reflects our commitment to fueling life's journeys and bringing our authentic Latin flavors to more people, with the goal of making the empanada an iconic American food,” Half Moon Empanadas CEO Pilar Guzmán said in a news release.Antone’s


The 50-year-old music venue now has a location at ABIA near Gate 23, in the space formerly occupied by Haymaker. The new venue reflects Antone's 305 E. Fifth St., Austin, location, with features like its neon sign handcrafted by local Evan Voyles, vintage show posters, a memorabilia wall showcasing artifacts and photos celebrating Austin’s musical history.

“It is truly an honor for our Antone's airport location to serve as a beacon of Austin’s live music scene, welcoming and entertaining visitors and locals alike as they travel to and from our amazing city,” Antone’s co-owner Will Bridges said in a news release.Coming soon

HKG Duty Free

Travel retailer HKG Duty Free will open in the Barbara Jordan Terminal to offer items including perfume, cosmetics, liquor, tobacco and more. The business was founded in 1977 in Laredo and is now headquartered in Miami, focusing on airport retail in the United States, according to a news release.


"We are excited to partner with [ABIA] and to bring our unique retail expertise to this dynamic and vibrant city," HKG Duty Free President Ross Khaledi said in a news release. "Our goal is to provide travelers with an unparalleled shopping experience that reflects the spirit and culture of Austin, while also offering the finest global brands."What else?

ABIA officials are working on a multiyear expansion program designed to upgrade facilities and increase capacity to address the record-breaking passenger traffic in recent years.
