The Texas Department of Transportation will close portions of FM 621 in San Marcos from March 13-18 daily for continued work on widening the road and adding lanes and shoulders.

The work specific to the closures includes replacing large cross culverts along the road as well as installation of new pavement and guardrails.

“The road closure will also allow TxDOT to expedite other work and will eliminate several disruptive lane closures in the future,” Bradley Wheelis, public information officer for TxDOT, told Community Impact Newspaper in an email.

Drivers traveling in either direction can use Old Bastrop Highway, also known as CR 266; Redwood Road; Guadalupe Street, also known as SH 123; and De Zevala Drive.

Those traveling northbound along the frontage road can detour at San Marcos Highway, also known as Hwy. 80, and Old Bastrop Highway.

Detour signs will be placed along the corridor.
