Candidates have filed to run for several positions in the cities of San Marcos, Buda and Kyle.

In a nutshell

The filing period for the general election Nov. 7 was Aug. 21. These are the individuals who have applied to run in the upcoming election for their respective races.

The specifics

The city of San Marcos will have races for City Council places 3 and 4. The sitting council members of both seats are running for re-election, and candidates are as follows:

Place 3:
  • Alyssa Garza*
  • Aaron Maldonado (write-in candidate)
Place 4:

In Buda, the terms for mayor and two City Council members are up. However, the incumbents were the only ones to submit applications by the filing deadline, according to the city’s website.

Therefore, the City Council may vote to cancel the races since there are no opponents.

The city of Kyle, on the other hand, has the most candidates in contention for the upcoming election. Mayor and Districts 2 and 4 are on the ballot.

The candidates are as follows:

Mayor:
  • Travis Mitchell*
  • Yvonne Flores-Cale
  • Linda Tenorio
  • Robert Ferguson
District 2:
  • Robert Rizo
  • Shawn Moore
District 4:
  • Lauralee Harris
  • Marc McKinney
  • Jake Webb
  • Claudia Zapata

District 2 incumbent Flores-Cale will be running for mayor, leaving her seat open for a new face on the dais or for former City Council member Rizo.

District 4 council member Ashlee Bradshaw will not be running for re-election.
