This is just one of various agenda items in recent weeks regarding the ongoing fentanyl epidemic in Hays County, including $20,000 to the sheriff’s office for education and outreach pertinent to the fatal opioid.
The $4,486 payment will go toward nearly 100 holsters at $49.95 each, according to agenda documents, each of which contain two nasal spray doses of Narcan, which is used to reverse opioid overdoses.
Additionally, the commissioners will vote on an agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice and the Drug Enforcement Administration for overtime pay reimbursements in connection with the Sheriff's Office Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force.
The funding comes from the DEA, amounting to $12,000 for four different Hays County Drug Enforcement operations for surveillance units and investigative support in wiretap investigations, and other related matters.
