Kyle City Council will host its first budget work session for the 2022-23 fiscal year May 12 at 5:30 p.m. in City Hall, located at 100 W. Center St., Kyle. Residents will have the opportunity to share concerns or feedback during public comments at the beginning of the meeting.

City Manager Scott Sellars and department directors will present budgetary needs to the council. The council will provide feedback, priorities and general direction to Sellars to develop the operating budget and budget for capital improvement projects.

This is the first of five public meetings that span through August with two public hearings regarding the city’s proposed budget and tax rate. The budget ordinance and property tax rate ordinances will have two readings and could be approved by Aug. 25.

The current 2021-22 budget was approved Aug. 26, as previously reported by Community Impact Newspaper, at $172.6 million and a decreased property tax rate from the previous budget.

The work sessions will be hybrid and can be watched live on the Kyle 10 feed.
