Hays CISD will cancel classes and offices Feb. 3-4 in anticipation of inclement weather set to hit the Central Texas area.

Chief Communications Officer Tim Savoy added while after-school activities and competitions are canceled Feb. 3, they may still go Feb. 4 in the late afternoon or evening.

The National Weather Service of Austin/San Antonio issued a winter storm warning at 6 a.m. Feb. 2, stating "significant icing expected with a mix of freezing rain and sleet."

The area may see up to half an inch of sleet and 35 mile-per-hour winds through Feb 4.

There are enough instructional minutes banked that the two-day closure will not cause a deficit in required instructional time, Savoy told Community Impact Newspaper.
