Texas State University will accept submissions through Dec. 31 for new names for the Angelina and San Gabriel residence halls on the school's San Marcos campus. Two unnamed streets on the school's Round Rock campus will also be named through this process.
Submitted names must be distinguished Hispanic, Latino or Black alumni who have made significant contributions to TSU and who are not currently employed by the university, according to a press release from the university and its website.
A task force was appointed by the university to facilitate the renaming process. It is co-chaired by Gloria Martinez—professor in the Department of Sociology, director of the Center for Diversity and Gender Studies and director of the Latina/o/x studies minor—and Scott Bowman—associate professor in the School of Criminal Justice and special assistant to the provost for inclusion and diversity.
Questions about the committee or process may be sent to either Martinez or Bowman, and an online submission form can be found online.
