To add to the annual Front Porch Days festival, Kyle will host its first half-marathon this weekend. The Plum Crazy Half will consist of 13.1 miles that take runners through three neighborhoods in Kyle. Although Plum Creek has been hosting races for over 15 years, Jennifer Crosby, owner of For the Love of Go—a nonprofit that organizes events to help communities stay in shape—said as roads have opened up in Plum Creek due to planned development, she was able to add enough distance from existing 5K and 10K routes to create a half-marathon. “This race is the first half-marathon ever in Kyle, Texas,” Crosby said. “It will be challenging with hills throughout, and you can't beat the small hometown feel of a Plum Creek race.” Sponsored by The Green at Plum Creek, directed by For the Love of Go and hosted by Plum Creek Recreation Committee, the May 19 race will include runners from all over the country.
