A new winery and tasting room, Paradis Vineyard and Winery, will open this summer at 7585 Ranch Road 12 in San Marcos.

The backstory

Owner Alan Paradis purchased the property in 2007—which was previously used as a hunting lodge. Paradis, a former dentist living in Dallas, said he wanted to open the winery as a retirement career.

"Life is too short to live in Dallas," he said.

Digging deeper

Paradis Vineyard and Winery has Viognier and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes growing on 4-acres of the property. The winery will feature its own wines as well as other Texas wines.

Paradis said they also plan to build an outdoor stage and deck that will connect to an indoor covered porch area.

"We hope to give people an opportunity to come and sit in the Hill Country, at peace, surrounded by the atmosphere that we all love so much," he said.
