1. San Marcos Planning & Zoning Commission discussing two new subdivisions Tuesday

The San Marcos Planning & Zoning Commission will discuss two residential developments, including Highpointe Trace, located near Posey Road and I-35, and Las Colinas, near Old Bastrop Highway south of Posey Road. The commission will consider approval of a preliminary subdivision plat—the document that identifies property boundaries and the general layout of a development—for Highpointe Trace. ETR Development, the firm behind the Las Colinas subdivision, is requesting zoning changes to allow for multifamily, community commercial and general commercial uses on about 92 acres.

2. Hays County Commissioners Court discussing indigent health care Tuesday

The Hays County Commissioners Court will consider approval of payment of $2.17 million to Central Texas Medical Center for the county’s indigent health care program.

3. The Kyle Train Depot is open

The Kyle Train Depot opened to the public Sunday. The depot was built by the Great Northern Railroad in 1880. The Hays County Historical Commission led the effort to restore the historic site, which is the only train depot in Hays County to be located on its original site, according to a county news release. The depot is located at 100 N. Front St., Kyle, and is open from 1-5 p.m. on Sundays. Guests at the depot can tour a staged station master’s office, see 500-pound cotton bales and view a documentary on the founding of Kyle.

4. Hays CISD hosting long-term direction meetings

Hays CISD is seeking stakeholder input on the district’s long-term direction and will host three meetings this week to discuss residents’ aspirations for their children, according to a district news release. After the summits, the district will host a series of focus groups with stakeholders. A survey is also available and will be used to gather additional input. The input gathered at the summits will be given to a strategic design team consisting of district residents who will create a “community-inspired strategic direction that will include a set of community beliefs about learning, a call to action, goals and action steps,” according to the news release.
