Hope Austin, a nonprofit working to combat food insecurity in the greater Austin area, will now be known as Hope Round Rock in its partnership with Round Rock ISD and IDEA Round Rock,

Founder and executive director Monica van Waaden announced the rebranding during a Sept. 24 Round Rock Chamber luncheon.

About the program

Founded in 2016, Hope Austin provides weekend meals for students receiving subsidized meals through their school's free and reduced meal program, in-school snack support for elementary school students, family meal boxes and other programs geared toward addressing food insecurity needs of several Austin-area communities.

What they're saying

"Our commitment to this community and Round Rock ISD is we will be that mission-driven organization saying yes to every student in need," van Waaden said. "No wait lists. We will provide through eight service modalities, ensuring our students get what they need on their journey, as well as serving year around, including during the summer, as hunger does not take a vacation."
