However, Parrish & Co. Inc. has been selling home accents, including fireplaces, countertops and appliances to homeowners and homebuilders, since 1972, when Dan and Susan Parrish opened the first location in San Antonio.
Through the years, the Parrish family opened locations in Bulverde, Corpus Christi and the Austin area. Located in Round Rock, the Austin-area Parrish & Co. Inc. showroom has the largest selection of kitchenettes—sample kitchen designs—on display as well as working fireplace displays.
This location is also where Kelly Parrish Walker, now the company’s secretary-treasurer, got her start working for the family’s business in 2002. Parrish Walker and her brother, Brette Parrish, took over daily operations in 2017 with Brette taking on the role of president. While much of the company’s business comes from working with local homebuilders directly, Parrish Walker said anyone can walk into a Parrish & Co. Inc. showroom and select materials for their next remodel.
She said in-house designers can help customers choose countertops, cabinets and appliances for their dream kitchen or find the best fireplace to warm up their space.
“A lot of times the selections are done at [builders’] design centers, whereas a remodeler or a do-it-yourselfer, they want to come into the showroom and look and touch and feel and see things,” Parrish Walker said.
For example, customers interested in remodeling a room in their home can get a 3D mock-up to test various combinations of countertops, cabinetry and finishes.
For those wanting to remodel or update their home in the near future, Parrish Walker said customers should set a realistic budget, select a quality contractor and go with their gut.
As the company celebrates 51 years of serving Texas families, Parrish Walker said the company is seeing its center of activity shift north from San Antonio to Round Rock as the area grows more popular.
Parrish Walker said business at the Round Rock location has increased substantially in the last five years due to the growing housing market.
Working for a company established by her parents comes with a special kind of pride, Parrish Walker said.
“At the end of the day, we want to make our parents proud and continue on the legacy that they built,” she said.
