Pfennig Lane widening and reconstruction


The project will reconstruct and widen Pfennig Lane to a three-lane road with curbs and gutters from Rocky Creek Drive to Justice Center Drive. The new configuration includes one lane in each direction and a two-way, left-turn center lane. Pfennig has been reduced to one lane of westbound traffic during the first phase of the project, with eastbound traffic detouring through East Pflugerville Parkway and FM 685.

Status: project is substantially complete; final striping completed mid-November

Timeline: anticipated completion in December

Funding source: 2014 city of Pflugerville transportation bond

SH 130 widening

Crews are widening existing main lanes and bridges of SH 130 to add a third lane in both northbound and southbound directions between SH 45 North and Hwy. 290 East.


Status: Contractor has placed the barrier and begun excavation operations for widening from Cameron Road to SH 45; work has begun on striping the southbound configuration, with the southbound third lane of traffic opening in late November.

Timeline: October 2018-late 2020

Cost: $36.7 million

Funding source: Central Texas Turnpike System


UPCOMING PROJECTS

Kelly Lane Phase 2 improvements


The project will widen Kelly Lane to a four-lane road running from West Falcon Pointe Boulevard to Moonlynch Avenue. Project improvements include curb and gutter installation, sidewalks, storm sewers, streetlights and operational traffic signals.

Status: engineering design contracts for Phases 2 and 3 awarded Aug. 27


Timeline: construction anticipated to begin late 2020

Cost: $7.81 million

Funding source: 2018 city of Pflugerville transportation bond

Old Austin-Hutto Road improvements


The project will widen Old Austin-Hutto Road into a three-lane highway and will include pavement improvements. The updated configuration will feature one lane in each direction and a roundabout in addition to a two-way, left-turn center lane.

Status: consultant is finalizing designs

Timeline: construction expected to begin early 2020

Cost: $3.7 million

Funding sources: 2014 city of Pflugerville transportation bonds (design), 2018 city of Pflugerville bonds (construction)

Colorado Sand Drive improvements

The project includes design and construction of Colorado Sand Drive between Copper Mine Drive and the existing Colorado Sand Drive, located northwest of Lone Star Ranch Boulevard. Colorado Sand Drive will feature two lanes with parking and a median and will be coordinated with the proposed Northpointe development. This project is one of the approved November 2018 bond projects.

Status: design contract awarded to Kimley-Horn and Associates Inc. on Oct. 8

Timeline: TBD

Cost: $3.9 million
