Pflugerville Police Chief Jessica Robledo promoted two members of the police department to top leadership positions last week. Commander Jason Smith was promoted from commander to assistant chief and Lt. Mayo Neyland was promoted to commander. "These two individuals embody our department's values and will help us move forward in partnership with our community," Robledo said in a private ceremony in her office last Wednesday. Smith has been with the Pflugerville Police Department since 1996 and has served as commander since January. He has also worked in patrol, community services and criminal investigations. Smith's promotion will elevate him to second-in-command in the department. Neyland has served with the Pflugerville Police Department since 2001 and has served as a school resource officer and on patrol. In his new role, Neyland will oversee the creation and review of department policy and day-to-day operations.
