Hutto has a new 20,000-pound landmark in town.
The city of Hutto installed its newest concrete statue, Herman the Hippo, near Innovation Business Park on Jan. 24, according to the city's Facebook page. Hutto's Public Works crew teamed up with Hall's High Lift, Inc. to transport the hippo across town, placing it in the middle of the business park's new roundabout.
"It gives me great pride in knowing that I was a part of the team that was able to come out here and build and place this hippo, and it will be here for years to come," said Lance Zeplin, a Hutto streets and drainage superintendent. "We can share this with our children, our grandchildren, and maybe even their grandchildren. Just knowing that you played a role in this is quite exciting."
