Besides more than doubling in size, Downtown Hall of Fame in Hutto now is the only place in town with pool tables and a dance floor.

Owners Sean and Judi Smith moved to Hutto in 2009. They had always bartended and managed bars and restaurants but had wanted one of their own, Judi said.

“We wanted to do a bar and restaurant—have live music,” Judi said. “We wanted it to be a place where you could come in for the day with your family or by yourself and have that small-town, everyone-gets-to-know-each-other, fun place to hang out.”

In 2011, a space on East Street became available, and Downtown Hall of Fame opened that December. They picked the name because they wanted to open a place for people to watch both sports and live music.

“It really ties in our whole theme together,” Sean said.

Even during the first two weeks of operation, the restaurant doubled in size when the space next to the business became available, Sean said.

“Basically, any time space around us opens up, we immediately grab it because we want to be the biggest and the best around,” he said. “We’re going to continue to grow as the city grows.”

The most recent expansion has again doubled Downtown Hall of Fame’s occupancy and floor space, as well as allowed room for a 32-foot bar, stage for a full band, a dance floor and a dozen more tables. Four private rooms are available for parties, Judi said.

Sean said the new facilities will help widen the customer base and help Downtown Hall of Fame appeal to more people.

“You have to appeal to everybody to really make it out here,” he said.

That sentiment is reflected in the menu, which Sean described as Americana, serving “everything from hot dogs to quesadillas to smoked brisket jalapenos.”

“We try to do a wide range of everything and keep away from a bar food-type thing,” he said.

“Hutto’s one of the best places to be doing that right now,” Judi said. “I don’t think we could have picked a better place.”
