The several-times delayed Bohls Middle School within Pflugerville ISD is 83% complete.

Brandon Cardwell, the district's executive director of facilities and construction, said during the district's Oct. 21 board meeting that much work is still needed on the campus, but he is encouraged by the pace at which crews are operating.

"It's just daily chipping away and getting things done," Cardwell said. "But things are getting done, and we're feeling a little bit better about that."

Still underway is work on the basketball court, football bleachers, server rooms, various flooring and other elements of the campus.

The Bohls campus had originally been scheduled to be ready for students in time for the start of the 2021-22 school year, but competing construction projects and contractor scheduling errors resulted in project delays

During the school board's July 15 meeting, Chief Operations Officer Ed Ramos informed officials construction of the campus was 78% complete.

At that time, district staff said they did not yet have a specific date for when Bohls would be ready, but students were expected to be at the campus sometime during the fall semester.

On Oct. 21, Cardwell said the best-case scenario for completion of the campus is now the end of December, but teachers are scheduled to come onto the campus to prepare their rooms in early December.

At present, sixth-graders who had planned to attend Bohls during the 2021-22 school year are attending Carpenter Elementary School, and seventh and eighth graders are attending Cele Middle School.

"We're going to come up with a tentative schedule to make that transition," Cardwell said.
