A grand opening was held Aug. 1 for the opening of the newly renovated Heritage Park in Pflugerville.

What you need to know

The park was recently renovated with a new shade structure and playground, according to the city.

Pflugerville city staff have been working to make improvements to the city’s parks and trails, citing an increase in visitation by locals and out-of-towners, alike. Heritage Park, located at 901 Old Austin Hutto Road, Pflugerville, is one of several parks projects identified for improvements, such as the renovation of the Gilleland Creek pavilion; a playground and adult exercise stations on the south side of Lake Pflugerville; and a multi-use court at Stone Hill Park.

One more thing

A city of Pflugerville trail has also been beautified with a new mural from the Central Texas-based artists known as Artist Couple, per a July 23 release from the city.

The mural, called “Train of Thought,” is painted on the interior of the trail tunnel located underneath Railroad Avenue, features visual representations of more than 100 idioms, or figurative phrases in speech.

It also features several pop culture references, per city staff.

The trail mural is part of the city’s Art in Public Places program, which seeks to express community values and identity, as well as promote tourism among other goals, per the city.
