2. Area school districts consider District of Innovation proposals  Austin ISD holds a public hearing tonight regarding its consideration of whether to designate AISD as a district of innovation. The hearing is scheduled during AISD trustees' regular board meeting at 7 p.m. in the Board Auditorium at the Carruth Administration Center, 1111 W. Sixth St., Austin. Round Rock ISD trustees voted last week to approve a District of Innovation plan, over objections from Education Round Rock, the teachers and education employees union. Approving a DOI designation allows RRISD to exempt itself from several provisions in the Texas Education Code. Trustees and teachers were at odds over whether the move would benefit the district's students and educators.
