Check out the latest transportation project updates in the Northwest Austin area, including CapMetro's newest rail station, flood risk reduction efforts and expanded lanes.

Burnet Road Mobility Program

Project: Work includes updated traffic signals, improved crossings, bus stop improvements, trail connections, curb extensions, drainage improvements, Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant shared-use paths, raised medians and more on Burnet Road from White Horse Trail to US 183 (C2), Bright Verde Way to MoPac (C3) and US 183 to Bright Verde Way (C4).


Update: Work will begin at Burnet Road and Koenig Lane and continue north to approximately 500 feet south of US 183 (C2).
  • Timeline: Construction on C2 is expected to begin in January, construction on C3 is expected to begin in summer 2026, and C4 in the spring.
  • Cost: $13.8 million (C2), $23 million (C3), $16 million (C4)
  • Funding source: city of Austin 2016 Mobility Bond
CapMetro North Burnet/Uptown Station

Project: The rail station will be located along North Austin’s Red Line and feature two double-length platforms, pedestrian and bike pathways, local bus route connections and safety and security enhancements.

Update: Full construction on the project began in November after initially breaking ground in January 2022.
  • Timeline: Completion is expected in mid-2027.
  • Cost: $49.3 million
  • Funding source: CapMetro and Brandywine Realty Trust
Loop 360 Courtyard Drive/RM 2222

Project: Work includes removing traffic signals from mainlanes and constructing an underpass at Courtyard Drive; reconfiguring RM 2222 to include a diverging diamond interchange; and adding shared-use paths and sidewalks.


Update: Excavation is ongoing on the west cliffs adjacent to the southbound lanes.
  • Timeline: Construction is expected to begin mid-2026, with completion TBD.
  • Cost: $68.39 million
  • Funding source: TxDOT, city of Austin 2016 Mobility Bond
Oak Knoll Flood Risk Reduction

Project: Work includes making improvements to the storm drain system in the Oak Knoll neighborhood to reduce the risk of flooding, including new storm drain pipes and inlets on several roads and easements, and increasing the capacity of the detention pond on Chelsea Moor.

Update: Traffic control measures are being placed along the construction area, and potholing is taking place to verify and install the waterline along Columbia Oaks Court.
  • Timeline: Total project completion is expected in 2027.
  • Cost: $9 million
  • Funding source: city of Austin 2018 bond
Spicewood Springs Road Regional Mobility Project

Project: The project expands Spicewood Springs Road from two lanes to four lanes with a center median, shared-use paths, storm sewer, water quality ponds, water and wastewater improvements and new trees.


Update: Crews are working on drainage infrastructure, including retaining ponds, storm drains and rain gardens on the south side of the street.
  • Timeline: Total project completion is expected in late 2026.
  • Cost: $31 million
  • Funding source: city of Austin 2016 Mobility Bond
