We’re All Neighbors is hosting its first North Austin Safety Summit from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Aug. 12 at St. Mark United Methodist Church, 601 W. Braker Lane.

The event is sponsored by the city's Office of Violence Prevention and will feature an open house style of panels, workshops and speakers designed to address community safety in North Austin.

What’s happening?
  • Georgian Acres, Gracywoods, North Austin Civic Association, North Lamar, Quail Hollow, River Oaks and Walnut Creek residents are invited to learn about crime prevention strategies, share concerns with city leaders and brainstorm community-based solutions.
  • Residents from other neighborhoods are invited to attend, but issues discussed will be focused on these neighborhoods.
  • There will be interactive workshops and panels on managing stress, getting to know your neighbors, crime prevention through environmental design and addressing homelessness.
  • Moderated discussions will be held with Austin City Council Members Leslie Pool and Chito Vela and officers from the Austin Police Department.
Also of note
  • A sensory room with seating, music and fidget toys will be available all day as well as morning yoga and meditation.
  • Register here to be included in the catered lunch or to utilize free child care during the event, provided by staff of St. Mark Children's Day Out.
