Luxury jewelry company Korman has expanded its offerings with the latest opening of The Jewel House. The three-story location combines the company’s physical products with an inviting atmosphere and personalized shopping experience.

The backstory

The Austin-area business has been providing jewelry for special occasions since 1973 and was purchased by Kat Stokes and her husband, Larry Stokes, in 2018.

The couple previously worked in the jewelry sector together and were looking for an opportunity to establish roots in the city both personally and professionally.

What they offer

Customers can find a curated selection of brands including Rolex, Tudor, Jade Trau, Oscar Heyman and Single Stone. In addition to buying new timepieces, rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings, community members can meet with in-house jewelers for repairs, resizing and professional cleaning.

Shoppers can enjoy coffee and drinks and schedule a private appointment for jewelry shopping or bridal shopping. The company also has a partnership with Da Beers origin program where clients can trace their diamonds from where they were mined from.

Kat Stokes said the duo aimed to make a storefront that was accessible from all parts of the city as well as craft an environment for community members to feel at home.

“The mantra of the project was we wanted you to feel like you are sitting in the living room of our house and there just happened to be jewelry around,” Kat Stokes said. “We wanted our clients to come in and feel comfortable.”

What else?

Kat Stokes said the best part of the job is being part of so many people’s special occasions.

Throughout her time with the company, she’s helped repurposed meaningful jewelry for clients facing the challenges of losing a loved one and shaped custom bracelets for mothers wanting a physical reminder of their children.

“That is what gives me life and what has driven us to the point where we are now is because it is such an honor and it's such a joy to be a part of people's lives and to celebrate alongside them,” Kat Stokes said. “We don't take any of it for granted and it shows in the level of quality, care and communication and the well rounded experience that you get at Korman.”
