Katy ISD students ended their summer vacations by heading back to school Aug. 24.

The district has many new faces this year with an anticipated enrollment boost of about 3,100 students from the 70,097 learners enrolled last year. The district also added 365 new employees, including 265 teachers. No new schools opened this year, however. The district has 37 elementary schools, 13 junior high schools and eight high schools. The 2015-16 school year ends with an early dismissal on June 2, 2016.
