State Rep. Mark Keough (R-District 15) announced today he will run for his second term to the Texas House of Representatives.
In his first session, Keough took part in authoring more than 120 pieces of legislation, forty-five of which were signed into law. His initiatives included a bill that served to repeal the franchise tax, legislation that addressed in-state tuition for residents with non-legal status and a bill that allowed for the development of a database that allows for transparency of county expenses.
“I’ve learned a lot this past session, and I intend to build on that momentum and hit the ground running, well in advance of next session,” he said. “My objective is to get good bills passed for our state and to stop a few bad ones as well. I respectfully ask that the people of House District 15 continue to allow me the opportunity to work for them.”
Keough’s district serves areas of Montgomery County, including The Woodlands, Shenandoah and Oak Ridge North.
“It is my great honor and privilege to serve as the state representative for District 15,” Keough said. “This is a great community made up of special people, and I intend to continue to fight for our district.”
In a Sept. 9 press release, Keough said his values include conservative stances on pro-life, low taxes and 2nd amendment rights.
“This last session great strides were made toward those goals, but there is still more work to do,” he said.
Keough is the father of four children and one grandchild with another one on the way. He is the senior pastor of The Woodlands Bible Church in The Woodlands.
The Texas legislative primaries are March 2016 with a filing deadline of December 2015.
