In August the city of Cedar Park broke ground on an 18-month pass-through project to widen and improve East Whitestone Boulevard. Planners anticipate finishing the project by spring 2016. Upon completion, Whitestone drivers will have six instead of four lanes between Market Street and CR 175/Sam Bass Road. Drivers will also be able to use new turn lanes at intersections with connector roads such as Raley Road, Sam Bass Road and Toro Grande Drive. The project includes remodeling for the intersection of East Whitestone and Parmer Lane/Ronald Reagan Boulevard, turning it into a partial continuous-flow intersection. In the new arrangement, drivers who turn left from Whitestone onto Parmer or Ronald Reagan will first merge at separate signaled intersections to left-side lanes. Then at the intersection left-turning drivers will make their final turn, leaving Whitestone through traffic unimpeded. In January the city’s contractor is focusing on widening the bridge over Brushy Creek, and installing storm sewers and culverts, city engineers said. During the project the city will post updates at www.cedarparktexas.gov/construction.
