The Texas Department of Transportation will hold two open houses in Buda and San Marcos aimed at garnering feedback for the I-35 Capital Area Implementation Plan. The Buda meeting will take place March 25 at Hays High School and the San Marcos meeting will take place on March 27 at the San Marcos Activity Center.

TxDOT spokeswoman Kelli Reyna said the plan aims to improve mobility on I-35 from Georgetown to San Marcos. The two open houses in Buda and San Marcos will address the Hays County portion of I-35 from SH 45 in Buda to Posey Road in San Marcos.

"We are looking to make improvements to I-35 but we're trying to do it in a very methodical way," Reyna said.

Reyna said the event will allow community members to give feedback and input on the Hays County portion of the improvement process.

The plan will address the needs of the interstate's drivers, pedestrians, cyclists and transit riders as well as nearby businesses and communities and the environment.

"It looks at everything. If you're looking to make an improvement to I-35, it would be included in the Capital Area Implementation Plan," she said.

The meetings will not have formal presentations, and community members are invited to come and go at their convenience.

"We want the citizens to come and tell us 'you need to make sure you look at this and fix this,'" she said. "We will do our best to incorporate those comments."

The two meetings will have the same format and content.
