Just 12 years ago, Frisco didn't have any hospitals. Today residents have three to choose from within its city limits.

Baylor Medical Center at Frisco

Baylor Medical Center at Frisco opened in 2002 as Frisco Medical Center.

In 2005, the hospital was acquired by Baylor Health Care System and the name changed to what it is today. Baylor Medical Center is a full service, acute care hospital.

In 2007, the hospital expanded to 68 beds and an emergency room, the main lobby, cafe and medical training lab were added. The Women's Center, a professional office building and other additions were also built.

The hospital's specialties include orthopedics, spine, sports medicine, pain management, general surgery, urology, OB/GYN, bariatrics and ENT/sinus.

The Emergency Department was expanded earlier this year and now includes nine private exam rooms, a triage room, X-ray room and updated equipment.

Forest Park Medical Center

Forest Park Medical Center is Frisco's newest hospital. The physician-owned facility in the heart of Frisco's downtown area, celebrated its one-year anniversary over the summer.

Forest Park has 30 private inpatient rooms, 14 family suites, 10 intensive care beds and 12 state-of-the-art, fully integrated operating suites.

The hospital specializes in surgical procedures in a broad variety of medical disciplines, from bariatric surgery to spine surgery. The hospital uses the da Vinci Robotic Surgery System, which allows minimally invasive surgery.

The hospital has increasingly focused on surgical services for women and children.

Forest Park has emergency and intensive care departments, which are physician-staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Centennial Medical Center

Centennial Medical Center was built in 2004 and is Frisco's largest hospital.

It has grown with the Frisco community and is now a 118-bed, full-service hospital.

In 2012, it had close to 5,000 patient admissions and more than 21,000 emergency department visits.

Centennial specializes in many areas, including cardiac care, orthopedics, neurosurgery, obstetrics and gynecology.

The hospital's emergency department has 12 privacy beds for patients with less acute conditions, nine treatment rooms and a dedicated trauma room.
