On Sept. 16, Texas State University announced record enrollment for the fall 2013 semester. The university has broken enrollment records every year since 1998.
The fall 2013 enrollment is 35,568—up from 34,225 at the same time last year—and the university's freshman enrollment for 2013 is 5,181 students, which accounts for a 22 percent increase from 2012.
Texas State reported that Hispanic enrollment increased 12 percent to a record 10,682 students and now comprises 30 percent of the student body. African-American enrollment increased to 2,824 students and accounts for about 8 percent of the university population.
