Although Rise and Shine Bakery, 10601 RR 2222, Austin, has been sold to young cookie entrepreneur Hayley Callaway, founder Michelle Brull said that the Four Points' eatery will essentially remain the same.
On July 2, 22-year-old Callaway officially took over the reins of the River Place restaurant which has long been the site of business deals, teen gossip and family gatherings. She said that she will continue preparing Brull's recipes but adding her own unique cookies to the mix.
"She's the same age that I was when I started the business," Brull said. Both Callaway and Brull said they purchased the bakery with the financial help of their fathers.
Brull said that she plans to move to South America but will continue at the restaurant for a short time to transition Callaway to the business.
"I love the bakery—I just want to do something different now," Brull said.
