The Round Rock ISD board of trustees will review 16 applications that have been submitted to replace trustee Glen Colby, who announced his resignation April 5, citing time demands of board service as his reason for stepping down.

"We are pleased that so many qualified individuals have applied to fill our vacancy and we are confident that we will select a person who is committed to working with us for the benefit of all our students," board President Catherine Hanna said.

On April 9, trustee Diane Cox recommended choosing a candidate who is knowledgeable about the district.

"Certainly we're going into a superintendent search, so we want to make sure that it's somebody that will not have a big learning curve," she said.

Each trustee will select one person to be interviewed by the board. Applicants will be allotted five minutes to speak about their qualifications. Once the applicants have been interviewed, the board will vote on who will fill the position until November when voters will need to officially elect a new trustee.
