Freddie McFarland, Pflugerville ISD's director of student affairs, has been named the district's interim superintendent as current Superintendent Charles Dupre prepares to take a job with Fort Bend ISD in suburban Houston.
The Pflugerville ISD board of trustees appointed McFarland to the position at its April 4 meeting. The board said it appointed an interim to maintain stability within the district as it searches for Dupre's replacement. McFarland will not pursue a position as the permanent superintendent.
No timeline has been set for when McFarland will take the position, but Fort Bend ISD is expected to appoint Dupre as its superintendent April 11. The board is currently taking proposals from employment firms, and will decide which firm, if any, will be hired in early May, according to a district news release.
