Gordon Wybo moved his business into a house in Kyle in October, and he made sure to bring his worms with him. Wybo said he takes pride in the fact that his business, Sustainacycle Sustainable Living Center, is not easily categorized.

"I wanted a place that didn't fit something that you could just check the box," Wybo said. "It's not a store, it's not a school, it's not a farm, but I do all those things."

Sustainacycle, formerly Wybo's Wigglers, offers classes on everything from hydroponics—how to grow plants without soil—to making homemade soap and sustainable practices.

Sustainacycle does not have everything, though. A glance around the facility reveals that there is almost no trash anywhere. Food and paper products go onto one of the two compost piles in the back, and almost everything else gets recycled.

Wybo's plans for 2013 include installing a greenhouse in the backyard and an interactive herb garden in front of the business that will allow people to use their smartphones to scan a barcode attached to each plant and receive information about the plant.

"This is what I want my legacy to be," Wybo said. "Not some bridge, or tower or coliseum. I want to be known as the guy who taught people how to grow things."
