Starting Jan. 13, visitors and employees in The Domain will have the option of taking the bus through the shopping center and connecting to other routes and the MetroRail Kramer Station.
The stop, which is part of the Route 466 Kramer rail connector that drops off MetroRail riders to their final destinations, will be at Domain Drive and Esperanza Crossing near the Westin Hotel. Other existing stops are near the Austin Community College Northridge Campus, IBM Corp. and the J.J. Pickle Research Campus. The rail connector runs Monday through Friday.
"Before we started the proposal process, we had received a lot of comments from riders for a stop to use [in The Domain]," Communications Specialist Melissa Ayala said.
After submitting the proposed stop to the board, she said the transit authority received numerous emails and comments posted online in support of the stop.
The new bus stop is part of Capital Metro's service changes, which occur in January, June and August every year. Ayala said the transit authority modified the Kramer rail connector schedule to line up with train arrival and departure times.
Other service changes in the North Austin area include a new stop on Route 3 between Anderson Lane and Northcross Drive on Burnet Road.
The board approved the January service changes Sept. 24, and the transit authority signed an agreement June 29 with Simon Property Group and Endeavor Real Estate Group to operate the buses through The Domain.
