The Austin Public Library is closing its Little Walnut Creek branch July 30–Aug. 3 for renovations to bring the library up to the standards set by the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Library spokeswoman Kanya Lyons said the height of the modules that create the circulation desk will be shortened. The library is located at 835 W. Rundberg Lane.

"Basically it's so we can better serve all of our customers," she said.

Lyons said the library's facilities services division has been making ADA improvements to library branches that opened before the ADA act was enacted in 1990 and as funds are made available. The Little Walnut Creek branch opened in 1979, and Lyons said it last received a renovation in 2008.

"It's been updated here and there," she said.

Library patrons with materials on hold may pick them up at the Windsor Park branch, 5833 Westminster Drive or call 974-9840. The library's main number is 974-7500.
