The previously canceled Magnolia Fourth of July fireworks show is back on, thanks to collaboration between the city, State Rep.-Elect Cecil Bell Jr. and American Fireworks of Pinehurst. On June 21, the city canceled the fireworks show at Unity Park because the technician the city hired through Bay Fireworksa fireworks production companybecame unavailable.

"We are grateful to Mr. Bell for the role he played in helping the city pursue an alternative after our vendor cancelled the contracted fireworks display that was planned a year ago," Mayor Todd Kana said. "And, we are appreciative of American Fireworks, a Texas-based company, who offered to help sponsor the production."

The third annual event begins at 7 p.m. with free watermelon and a DJ playing hits from the past four decades followed by the fireworks show at 9 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring picnic baskets and arrive early to take advantage of the park's splash pad, horse shoe pitching, skate park and volleyball courts.

Unity Park is located at 19450 Unity Park, Magnolia.
