Incumbent Lisa Birkman narrowly edged challenger Lee Ann Seitsinger for the Williamson County Commissioners Court Precinct 1 seat by just 217 votes in the unofficial tally.
Birkman's razor-thin margin started small and never got any larger as the night progressed. With all precincts reporting, the commissioner won with just ahead 51.9 percent of the vote.
Birkman, who is vying for her third term on the court, said Seitsinger's negative attacks made the election close.
"I think the message is that positive does win in the end. It might have been close, but positivity won out in the end," Birkman said.
Seitsinger did not immediately return calls for comment.
Birkman, the first woman to hold a seat on the on the court, was first elected in 2004. This would be her third term on the court.
No Democrat filed for the Precinct 1 seat.
