Offering high-quality food in a casual, neighborhood environment and at a low cost to customers has worked well for BC Tavern.

BC Tavern co-owner Stewart Scruggs said people have responded positively to the restaurant that opened July 5. Formerly Zoot Restaurant, BC Tavern offers comfort food and casual dining for the whole family.

"People like the fact that families can eat very inexpensively, but the quality of food has not gone down," Scruggs said.

The fresh fish specials and burgers have been especially popular with customers, Scruggs said.

BC Tavern is the third restaurant Scruggs and fellow co-owner Mark Paul have run together.
