In a partnership with the Water Oriented Recreation District of Comal County, Eagle Scout candidate Jack Robinson completed a service project in July by designing and building environmentally friendly trash boxes to be placed at popular recreation sites.

Along with three fellow Troop 163 members, Robinson constructed five boxes made of composite deck boards, stainless steel hardware and a soft-close hinge.

The boxes were placed along the Guadalupe River near the entrance to The Horseshoe, Nichol’s Landing Park, and the Overlook Park and South Guadalupe River trail heads.

Each box contains WORD’s signature yellow mesh bags that are distributed to water and outdoor enthusiasts.

WORD of Comal County has implemented the Stash Your Trash program this summer to encourage visitors and recreational enthusiasts to keep the rivers and lakes clean.
