As the New Braunfels area continues to cultivate more private and community college investments in the area—Howard Payne University is expanding to Veramendi and Texas State Technical College is looking to establish itself next to the Northeast Lakeview College campus near the New Braunfels National Airport—opportunities for higher education are growing in the city outside of traditional avenues.

The following are some data points in higher education in and around New Braunfels.

Enrollment levels at the nearest major regional colleges and universities have remained relatively steady in recent years.


Business degree programs dominated fall 2022 enrollment at all surrounding campuses with the exception of Northeast Lakeview College’s main campus, where general liberal arts studies are the top course pathway.


In New Braunfels and across Comal and Guadalupe counties, educational attainment breaks down similarly in all ways except bachelor's degrees, which had a slightly lower rate of attainment in Guadalupe County, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2021 five-year estimates.
