Approximately 29 cross country athletes were recognized during the regular Comal ISD board of trustees meeting Nov. 17 for qualifying for the UIL Cross Country State Meet, which took place Nov. 4-5 in Round Rock.

Three cross country teams from CISD qualified for the state meet as well as three individual athletes, according to the district.

In the UIL 5A conference, the Canyon High School girls team, which placed third at regionals, finished in seventh place in the state. The Smithson Valley High School girls team placed second at regionals and finished sixth in the state.

In the UIL 4A conference, the Davenport High School boys team placed fourth at regionals and finished 15th in the state.

The three individual state meet qualifiers include Cadence Patterson from Canyon Lake High School, who finished 13th at regionals and 60th in the 4A State Meet. Madeline Reagan from DHS placed ninth at regionals and 21st in the 4A State Meet. Bradyn Youngdahl from SVHS placed ninth at regionals and 35th in the 5A State Meet.



The Comal ISD cross country coaches who led their teams to the state meet include CHS Head Coach Sheila West and Assistant Coach Steven Fiala; CLHS Head Coach Cody Schroeder and Assistant coach Chris San Miguel; DHS Head Coach Michael Burgess; and SVHS Head Coach Trenton Hall, according to the district.
