On June 21, the Eanes ISD board of trustees took action on several items at their last meeting before summer recess, including the appointment of a principal for Forest Trail Elementary School and purchasing new school buses.

Forest Trail Elementary Principal

Holly Reid was appointed as the new principal of Forest Trail Elementary School at the meeting. Reid was previously the assistant principal at Cedar Creek Elementary School, and will be replacing Cody Spraberry, following his recent resignation, according to the district.

Reid brings 16 years of experience in education to the position, including seven years as an administrator and one as an instructional coach. Prior to her time at EISD, she served as an assistant principal and academic dean at Neidig Elementary in Elgin ISD. She received her Master of Education in Educational Administration from Tarleton State University.

New School Buses

Trustees approved the purchase of four new school buses during the meeting. Totaling $404,198, two new buses will replace older buses that are nearing the end of their life cycle, and two will be used to assist students requiring special services.

School Safety & Health Advisory Council

The SSHAC is responsible for studying relevant issues related to the health and well-being of students and recommending action to the district, according to EISD’s website. The council goes before the board annually to get approval for its members.

The council will include 20 parents, 10 members of school staff, five Westlake High School students and three community members.
