Eanes ISD announced Nov. 3 that, after four years of negotiations, it finalized an agreement Oct. 27 to sell 90 acres of its River Hills Road property to Tires Made Easy, Inc., according to a news release. The $4 million sale, along with other agreements, will enable the construction of up to 12 new youth athletic fields.

“We are happy to move forward with such an exciting project that benefits our students and community, provides revenue that is not recaptured, and allows us to improve fields throughout the District,” EISD Superintendent Tom Leonard said in the release. “We thank the parties involved for their hard work to come to a mutual agreement.”

The sale will allow the district to operate new sports fields for Westlake area youth.

Specifically, the release stated:

• TME will donate 15 acres of River Hills land to the Western Hills Little League to construct the River Hills Sports Park;
• EISD will lease 26 acres of its Baldwin tract to WHLL for sports fields;
• TME will donate $2 million to EISD to improve its district sports fields;
•TME will donate $250,000 to the 12 Fields Foundation—a nonprofit foundation formed by WHLL, Westlake Pop Warner and Westlake Youth Soccer Association—for youth sports.

The agreement is the result of four years of negotiations between the parties, including residents of the River Hills neighborhood, to bring youth athletic fields to the neighborhood.

“This collaborative effort involved community members, district staff and board members, and we are pleased with the end result," EISD Board President Dr. Colleen Jones said in the release. “We are thankful that a resolution could be made that benefits all parties involved, and that our community can move forward in a positive direction.”
