1. Legislative measure to exempt River Place from annexation failed last Friday

A measure to exempt River Place from being annexed by the city of Austin failed Friday in the Texas House of Representatives. The amendment, proposed by State Rep. Paul Workman, R-Austin, to Senate Bill 6 failed in a 120-12 vote. If passed, Senate Bill 6 would require voter approval before an unincorporated area is annexed into a city.

2. Lake Travis ISD board of trustees meets Tuesday; students return to class Wednesday

The Lake Travis ISD board of trustees will vote on the fiscal year 2017-18 budget and set the tax rate at its Tuesday night meeting at 6 p.m. in the Live Oak Room, 607 RM 620, Austin. Students in the district begin the 2017-18 school year Wednesday.

3. Rollingwood City Council meets for a budget workshop Wednesday, followed by regularly scheduled City Council meeting 

Rollingwood City Council will evaluate the proposed fiscal year 2017-18 budget prior to its regular council meeting Wednesday evening. Council is scheduled to discuss possible changes to the city's policy on nonconforming structures and temporary certificates of occupancy. The budget workshop will begin at 6 p.m. and the Council meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at Rollingwood City Hall, 403 Nixon Drive.

4. Travis County approved projects in its $185 million bond package last Tuesday

Travis County commissioners voted last Tuesday to approve a list of projects included in a proposed $185 million bond package. Tomorrow, Commissioners will decide on the date for the proposed bond election.

5. West Lake Hills City Council reviewed the city budget last week

On Wednesday, West Lake Hills City Council added three items to its proposed budget for fiscal year 2017-18.
