The Texas Department of Transportation is hosting an open house meeting today to present information about proposed improvements to the I-35 and Williams Drive intersection as part of the Mobility35 Program. The meeting will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. at Georgetown High School, 2211 N. Austin Ave. TxDOT has proposed the $67 million project to improve safety and mobility in the area. The project would reconstruct the intersection to a diverging diamond intersection design similar to the intersection of I-35 and University Boulevard/FM 1431 in Round Rock. Construction would also include improvements to the southbound frontage road, extending the northbound frontage road from Williams Drive to the Lakeway Drive exit ramp, bypass lanes under Williams Drive that would allow drivers to avoid stopping at traffic signals, and bicycle and pedestrian access along the frontage roads. Residents will have an opportunity at the meeting to give comments during the come-and-go meeting. Comments are also being accepted online until Dec. 1 at www.mobility35openhouse.com.
