The Georgetown Cultural Citizens Memorial Association will hold its annual backpack distribution drive and community awareness fair on Aug. 3.

What you need to know

The event is open to the greater Georgetown community, with the backpack distribution drive providing school supplies from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Aug. 3 at the Carver Center for Families at 1200 W. 17th St., Georgetown.

Backpacks prefilled with necessary school supplies for the upcoming school year will be available for drive-thru pickup as well with access from Scenic Drive.

Organizers said the event is planned to distribute about 2,000 backpacks on a first-come, first-served basis.


The free event will also include a petting zoo, games and snow cones, per a release from Georgetown ISD.

The community event is hosted by the Georgetown Cultural Citizens Memorial Association in partnership with Georgetown ISD, Georgetown Police Department, Georgetown Fire Department, STARRY, The Carver Center for Families, First Baptist-Georgetown, Macedonia Baptist Church and First Citizens Bank.
