At a June 3 board workshop, GISD's Chief Financial Officer Jennifer Hanna presented a budget proposal for the upcoming fiscal year based on an operating budget of $150,390,907 with a maximum total tax rate of $1.0567 per $100 valuation.

Georgetown ISD working to balance higher costs and stagnant funding this budget season


In an update that came during the May 6 board workshop, district administrators painted a picture of how the budget may be impacted by some larger issues in the financial climate of public education.

Superintendent Devin Padavil said one main point of concern is the lack of increase to the basic allotment, the per-student funding amount received by Texas school districts, since 2019.

Georgetown ISD approves compensation plan giving $2,100 raise to teachers, librarians


Trustees approved on May 20 a compensation plan that incorporated recommendations based on a Texas Association of School Boards study of the district's compensation and how it compares to other districts. The study came with a set of recommendations for adjustments to the district's pay structure, including the improvement of starting salaries or adopting a general pay increase, as well as converting incentive payments to stipends for hard-to-fill positions, such as special education and bilingual roles.
